Book Blog Post #6

I finished A Deadly Game of Magic. Now I'm reading The Séance. It's about a girl named Lauren who lives with her Aunt Mel because her parents died. A girl named Sara is also living with them (she's a foster child). The two of them are the same age but Lauren doesn't really like Sara because they're both so different. Anyway, Sara mentioned to Lauren that there's this girl, Roberta, who goes to school with them that can contact spirits and she said that she does séances. Lauren doesn't want any part of it, but then they have a meeting about it at the lunch table with Roberta and Lauren's friends Allie, Luemma, Dana, and Maddie. They talk Lauren into it, saying that it will be fun.

So one night they all go to Roberta's house because her parents aren't home. They lock all the doors and windows, light a candle, then start the séance. Roberta starts telling them about things that will happen to each of them. Meanwhile, Lauren gets the feeling that it's not just a game and that they shouldn't be doing it. Right after she thinks that, Sara gets up and starts screaming that something's wrong. Then she falls on the candle and the room is dark. They all start to panic until they manage to light the candle again and turn the lamp on. When they do, they see that Sara is gone and all the doors and windows are still locked. They call the sheriff and when he comes they tell him everything. He concludes that he thinks Sara ran away (Lauren told him she would always sneak out of the house at night) and takes the girls home. The next day a hunter finds Sara's body in the swamp. Aunt Mel tells Lauren and Allie that the autopsy showed that she drowned. That's where I left off.

Since my last post, some things have happened. While the teens were in the kitchen, they heard something whining by the busted door. They opened it and there was a dog there. They let the dog in and it took up to Bo. They all talked for a while, and then they noticed that the dog was gone. Julian and Bo went to the bathroom while Lisa and Teena stayed in the kitchen. Eventually Julian came back, without Bo. He told them that Bo went to look for the dog by himself and didn't come back. So the three of them went to look for Bo.

All this while, they were trying to figure out who's in the house with them. Some one's been doing magic tricks right in front of them (it scared them, so that's why they went from the living room to the kitchen), but they can't see who's doing it because it's too dark (the storm knocked the electricity out). They think it might be Miss Gracie Ella. After all, when they went to look for Bo, they found a car in the garage that they thought was hers. The dog was in the car, but not Bo. So they kept looking and eventually found him. He was in a chair and it looked like just his head was on it, but it was just an illusion (Lisa knows a lot of stuff about magic). Someone had knocked him out and put him there. I left off where they locked themselves in one of the rooms. They no longer think it's Miss Gracie Ella in the house. They think it's her magician husband. They think that he never actually died and that he's in the house. I really need to find out what happens! This book is keeping me in suspense!

The new book I'm reading is called A Deadly Game of Magic. It's about a group of teens (Lisa, Tenna, Julian, and Bo) who are on their way back from a regional speech and drama tournament, when a storm hits. It was raining so badly that the roads were starting to flood. To make things worse, the car started breaking down. So they pull into the nearest driveway (they noticed that there was a car in the driveway and they saw a light on in the house). They went up to the door and right before they knocked, a man with a beard opened the door. He's said that they could come in and call for a mechanic, but he and his wife had to go to a party. The man and woman acted really weird, and that made the teens very suspicious. While they were there they said something about a hitchhiker. Later a neighbor, Mrs. Lonnie Whitt, came over and told them that the house belonged to an old woman named Miss Gracie Ella. Her late husband was a magician (there was a bunch of magic stuff around the house). She was out of town that day and couldn't get back because of the storm.

Lonnie left because of the storm and the teens were left alone in the big, empty house. They called for a mechanic, who eventually showed up (after they called, the phone went dead). But while they were waiting for him (the mechanic, Sam), they heard a noise come from somewhere in the house. They told Sam about it when he got there and went to see what it was. It came from a room at the end of a long hallway in the house. When he looked in the room, he saw something so shocking, he fainted (they were too afraid to look in the room). They left him alone when they went to explore the rest of the house and when they came back, Sam had left without them. While they were exploring they found the back door busted open (the man and his wife broke in). That's what has happened so far. I really want to know what's in that room!

Book Blog Post #3

Well, where should I start? Will and Ronnie have started a relationship. First, Will took Ronnie fishing. They had a good time. They caught a fish, but Ronnie made Will put it back (she's a vegetarian, remember). After they went fishing, Will took Ronnie to the aquarium he volunteers at. Then Ronnie went along to Will's volleyball game. There's where trouble set in. Ashley, Will's ex-girlfriend, went up to Ronnie and told her about Will's game (he finds a new girl to date, then takes them fishing or to the aquarium). Of course Ronnie got mad at Will. They had a fight and didn't talk to each other for a while. But eventually, Ronnie went to the garage where Will works and apologized. Will accepted the apology and kissed her. It surprised Ronnie, but she liked it.

Before the start of Ronnie and Will's relationship, though, something happened that got Ronnie in trouble. She went to a music store to talk to Blaze, because Blaze was mad at her (about the whole Marcus thing). Blaze didn't really want to talk to her, so she left the store. Then when Ronnie was leaving the store, the alarm went off. Blaze had stuck some CD's and signed memorabilia in Ronnie's purse. She got caught and was arrested. The owner is going to file charges on her. Ronnie explained to her dad what had happened, and he believed her, even though no one else really did. Her dad is planning to get a lawyer.

That's some of what happened since the last blog. This will be my last post on The Last Song. I'm going to finish it this weekend and I'll be starting a new book on Monday. So if you want to know what else happens, you'll have to get the book.

Book Blog Post #2

In the past couple of chapters a lot of things have happened and some things have been revealed. First off, Ronnie, Marcus, and Blaze went off to a place called Bower’s Point. But Ronnie’s dad saw them go off and sent his friend, who’s a cop, after them to get Ronnie. Of course Ronnie wasn’t happy to be escorted off by a cop in front of her new friends. So after she was taken home, she had an argument with her dad. Well really she was the only one arguing because her dad kept calm through the whole thing. The book also mentioned that Ronnie is a vegetarian.

The book revealed something about Will, too. That he has a secret that no one knows about except for his friend Scott, Blaze, and Marcus and his friends. The secret was that he knew that Scott started the fire that burned down a local church (Blaze and Marcus and his friends saw it happen). He had wanted to tell the cops at the time, but Scott wouldn’t let him. Scott said to Will, "You owe me . . . " and by that, Will knew he couldn’t tell, even though he felt so guilty.

The last chapter left off with Marcus hitting on Ronnie right in front of Blaze (who he’s dating, by the way) and then leaving the diner they were in. Before he left, he mentioned to Ronnie that there was going to be a get-together at Bower’s Point that night and that he wanted her to come. Some things I want to find out: Is Ronnie going to go? Will she get in trouble for going if she does? And what does Will owe Scott for? I guess I’ll have to keep reading to find out!

Book Blog Post #1

Right now I'm at chapter four in the book. I like the book so far. I like the way Nicholas Sparks describes things in the book. I also like the way the book is written. It's written in third person and each chapter is centered around a different character. I like that better then it jumping from one character's point of view to the others within the same character. It makes the book a whole lot less confusing.

A few characters have been introduced so far: Ronnie, Jonah, Steve, Kim, Will, Blaze, and Marcus. Ronnie and Jonah are going to stay with their dad Steve for the summer. So far Ronnie has met Will, Blaze, and Marcus while she's been there. Chapter three left off with Ronnie going off with Blaze and Marcus. I can't wait to keep reading.

The Last Song - The Movie

The movie version of The Last Song is out in theaters now. I went to see it and it is a really good movie. I recommend it, but make sure you take plenty of tissues.
